TERTIARY TREATMENT FOR BIO-NUTRIENT REMOVAL
Case Study 05
Overview
A provider of water and wastewater services in the Philippines was facing effluent treatment compliance issues when their effluent could not be treated by their existing WWTP to comply to the current Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order (DAO) standard. The company covered a range of areas from residential to commercial, industrial and semi-business. The residual bio-nutrients, namely, ammoniacal nitrogen, nitrate and phosphate in their treated sewage effluent were unusually high. The existing wastewater treatment plant on site was not able to treat the water up to standard for effluent discharge. Space constraint was another issue at the premise, prohibiting them from upgrading their WWTP system. Acme has hence, sent a compact pilot unit as a field test to evaluate the possibility of contaminant removal from the outlet of their sewage treatment plant.
Systems
• Physical Filtration
• Adsorption Processes
Products
• ACM CBGAC:
chemically-impregnated carbon granules to enhance selectivity of specific contaminants such as nitrate and phosphate
• ACM OPC 200XZ:
impregnated natural mineral with high ion exchange and adsorption molecular sieving capacity, characterized by an open three-dimensional honeycomb structure, that specializes in removing dissolved cationic matters with affinity towards ammoniacal nitrogen
• ACM OPC 200XZM:
impregnated natural mineral which is effective in removing heavy metals, and enhance the removal of phosphate
